Needs an Aerospace section imo. Maybe a sub-section in Mechanical or standalone. From what I could tell from the FB group, there are quite a few AeroE majors around.

Thumbs Up* I do have a question for you guys aha. What is your major like? I believe you have a big control part and a big mechanical part right? What else do you learn/are teached ?

Thumbs Up* I do have a question for you guys aha. What is your major like? I believe you have a big control part and a big mechanical part right? What else do you learn/are teached ? The AeroE major at my university is actually a lot different than Mechanical. While there is some overlap in Thermo, Statics, Dynamics, and Deforms, we actually do a lot more with Fluids than Mechanical does. ME begins going into a lot of economy and design like courses with a basic Fluid Dynamics course junior year while AeroE is doing Aerodynamics, Compressible Flow, Thin Wall Structures, Vehicle Vibration/Control, and Propulsion. Junior year is quite hard in this program. My profile says I'm a junior because I'm a third year, but I'm just finishing my 2nd year in Aero. The next year in my education is supposedly the hardest year in any program at Virginia Tech. Over 2/3 of my class will end up failing Aerodynamics because it is insanely hard. It happens every year. Just hoping I make the cut. If you'd like me to explain a bit more in detail, I'd be happy to do so.

Hi All!
Not immediately, but in the neat future, we'll add suggested topics. Our current goal is getting the admins and moderators on the same page and drawing users to this forum instead of the face book group. Please be patient, but I see no problem honoring your request. It just will take a few days but it will be worth it!
Thanks for your suggestion!

Haha, I was debating about making an Aero topic of my own, but it's good to see someone did it. Honestly, I think my school's AERO is a fair bit different from mechanical too. That doesn't stop companies from asking for AEROs at the career fair when they're really looking for mechanicals though... I'm just finishing my Junior year, and, yea, it really is the toughest of them all. I once saw a joke graph that rings surprisingly true. It was "Quality of Life w.r.t time as an engineering student" QoL went to negative infinity at finals of junior year... Yea, I can see that.

It was "Quality of Life w.r.t time as an engineering student" QoL went to negative infinity at finals of junior year... Yea, I can see that. Basically the first two years of the ME and AE programs are similar except that Aero has Intro to AE and Aircraft Performance instead of Engineering Economy in ME. Third year is when it splits off quite a bit. Mech goes into design and Industrial applications while Aero becomes the hardest major on campus with Aerodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, Thermo, Operational Methods, and Thin Wall Structures in the same semester. I can completely understand that graph you are talking about. Each year Aero holds a banquet for the 2nd year Aero students on how to survive third year since most of those courses have about a 2/3 fail rate. The professors for those courses mentioned above show up and basically tell you that they are going to drill you in every way possible and give advice on how to prepare for their homework, quizzes, and exams. I'm hoping that I'm in the 1/3 that makes it through to 2nd semester.

If you guys can find 25~50 people who are aerospace engineers/students and have them register on the forum, we can create a section for you guys
