Since Electrical and Computer Engineering covers a wide range of fields, I'm a third year student majoring in power systems and control systems. What about the rest of you guys, what is your area of expertise?

I did Nanotechnology and Microsystems. I took a couple of control courses though! I am planning on going back to school this fall and will be taking power systems and control courses though as I do not want to do anymore research.

Well I chose power systems for a couple reasons actually, I grew up in a family of electrical technicians that dealt with most power systems, so i had some experience going into my degree. Another main reason is that I'm from Trinidad and Tobago and we're an Oil and Gas industry along with other industrial plants. Mainly power and control majors are faster to get employment than other majors, not to say that there isn't employment for the other majors, its just less places to choose from.

Sound choices. It does seem you have your path carved up Best of luck. What bugs me about power systems is that some regions follow different rules than others ~_^ Which makes it harder if you actually want to work internationally. However, it does seem to be the perfect place back at your home

Our lecturers have told us that as well, however we have a couple of international companies in Trinidad, both from the US and Europe, both use different standards and rules. So my program actually tries to teach for the most the US and British rules/standards in the major power systems.
