Hi everyone!
I'm and Italian student of Engineering. I started my freshman year in October and I think I'll love Engineering. However, I still have a doubt, that I hope to remove before this year goes by. My dream is to move to the USA, to work there as an engineer (of course). I both love Mechanical Engineering and Computer Engineering. As a Mechanical Engineer I can work in almost every manufacturing industry, in many fields (Automotive, Aerospace, Biomedical, Electrical, Electronics, Robotics and so on) to design, test and manufacture almost everything we own. As a Computer Engineer, besides finding employment in almost every industry since everything is automated nowadays, I can be a Software Developer and Engineer.
Before ending my question, I'd like to point out that, on equal terms (i.e. there's the same demand for both Mechanical and Computer Engineers) I'd go with Mechanical Engineering. However, since I heard that there are too Mechanical Engineers in the USA (even though it's a STEM field), I don't mind at all being a Computer Engineer, since I already know what I'll study (I have a very basic experience in programming, so basic I don't remember anything). Yes, I'd prefer very slighty more Mechanical Engineering, but don't misunderstand me, I'll be happy even as a Computer Engineer.
P.S. Don't suggest me to take courses in related subjects (i.e. Mechatronics, Automation): these are already included in my courses.
The Mechanical Engineering course of my university encloses: Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Electrical Machines and Plants and Controls Engineering.
The Computer Engineering course, instead: Automation, Controls Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering (Fundamentals), Telecommunications and, of course, Software Engineering and all the related fields.
Thanks in advance
Edit: I'm sorry. I posted in the wrong sections. Could a moderator please move it to the right section? Thanks.
