Hello everyone!
I don't know if there's any thread about what I'm going to ask, so here we go: people whose native language is not English, how do you study/practise/improve it? I think that it's a great advantage, not only professionally as engineers, but also personally. Last year some subjects forced us to consult some material writed in English, but I'm not feeling prepared for "heavy work" or personal relationship.
Thanks!

Well, a good option to improve your english skills is to read often english texted books/magazines/website/tutorials and try to get a penfriend with whom you can write in english. Also you can watch movies in english, at the beginning maybe with subtitle, but with the time you can watch them more and more without them.

I learned from books And music, TV (in my country nothing is synced, I also learned Spanish the same way and never attended any class or anything) But what is important is to try and speak it, preferably with native speakers

Well , I watch movies/read books/use it. Watching an english movie makes you feel one of them. It is really helpful. But, we do use english as the secondary language in studying. All of our books are written in english.

I had classes during my basic education, but I reinforced it with internet and videogames.
Reading helps with your vocabulary, but if you manage to get a native speaker to chat, you'll improve your pronunctuation greatly. For listening, I used movies, too, with english subtitles enabled, so I could link the words with what the characters where saying. While studying, if the author is english-speaker, you should find their book in its original language, it was common that the translated versions were bad (Hard to get someone who knows languages and the subject of the book).
Any of these points will help you out.
