I wonder if we could look into some way to to LaTeX formatting on here, kinda like with PhysicsForums. By LaTeX, I mean the way on PhysicsForums that you can write out equations that looks like what you'd find in a math book. I think a lot of math departments use it. Somehow, I doubt it's possible in proboards, but I wouldn't be shocked if someone had made a TeX script to add on. For example, it would be a script that, when prompted by certain tags, say [tex][\tex], it would turn this equation: (3x^2 + 5x + 2)/(3x + 5) = 0 into an image like this (see image alt-text for what would go between the tags): or take this: mx''(t)+cx'(t)+kx(t) = F(t) and make it look like this: . FYI: the dot notation is used to signify derivatives w.r.t. time. x-dot is equivalent to dx/dt, etc Anyway, if it's possible to have, it would be pretty neat for math problems and the like. I just thought I'd throw it out there.

We'll take a look into it. I don't know whether it is possible through this forum-hosting service. There are plug-ins that we may be able to use, however!

Just to try something since I saw a test topic...
\[ x= \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a} \]
It works! Sometimes.... *sigh* fun. Well, it's a lot better than nothing. If you don't see it trigger, try reloading the page
Be sure to surround it with "\-[" and "\-]" tags (WITHOUT the dash!) for it to trigger the script.
