One of my engineer friends has to take a defensive driving course. He opted to take it online. Now, in this course, they went into a little aside about physics. That's where he got this little gem from Honestly, I think this may be all the motivation I need to never let myself risk having to take one of these... Note, the question mark symbol is probably supposed to be a 1/2 since they seem to think force = kinetic energy...

I know, right? I mean, force and kinetic energy are analogous of course, but geez...
And let's not forget about how they plugged in mph and magically got ft-lbs without any conversion. At least a foot-pound is a valid unit of energy.
Of course, if they did convert to ft/s, they'd get much smaller numbers which might've been part of it - in my experience, driving courses such as this one rely on fear and scare tactics to get their point across. 211,150 ft-lbs at 65 mph sounds a lot scarier than the 14,124 ft-lbs it would really be - though if anybody actually hit the dash with either amount of energy, they'd still be pretty well screwed.
That still leaves the whole kinetic energy = force thing though... ugh.
I have a strong urge to go find the person in Dallas who made this and go rack up a few assault charges... "FORCE *punch* IS *punch* MASS *punch* TIMES *punch* ACCELERATION *punch* IDIOT! *kick to the balls*"
