I always used Netbeans, but Eclipse isn't bad either.

Eclipse is definitely my favorite. I like it over Netbeans because it has less clutter and is nice and lightweight. It is also easy to install external libraries for use, as well as add-ons like EGit for version control. I have developed many complex applications from scratch with it and it has never given me any problems.

Undoubtedly Eclipse, Netbeans is also a good option.
