You just need to have a laid back life style and stress is not a problem. Easier said than done though. It's hard not to get stressed when you have like 4-5 problem sets per week and each one takes you hours to complete. Group projects don't help; especially when one person in the group doesn't do their part and you have to pick up their slack. 5-6 finals in the span of a few days that cover a good 20-30 chapters of material. All of that combined with the difficulty of engineering is stressful. If you honestly are able to live stress free while in engineering school, please tell me your secret.

I sort problem sets in order of importance and do the most important ones when I have the time with a couple cups of coffee the less important ones I sometimes just finish quickly and hand them in so get a approved degree. About group projects I have a good hint for you, if one person in the group doesn't do their part, leave their name out of the finished work and tell the teachers they didn't help, I'm sure they learn till the next time About finals, I really suck at reading for em, so I usually keep up on the classes good and ask the teachers for tasks to solve. This way I learn the most, after about 5-10 tasks later I can pass the final easily. But the most important aspect is your attitude, I keep thinking I can finish my degree, if not in the given time I'll take a year extra and finish the left over courses, take your time to study you have plenty of time to work in your life after finishing.

I like to try and meditate. I'm still learning how to do it properly but it definitely helps. I try to exercise regularly too. I know I feel more stressed when I haven't for a week or longer.

I like the idea for group projects, but unfortunately that doesn't work at my university. We are expected to work as a team and deal with the struggles of working as a team. When one person isn't doing their part, it is the job of the rest of the team to do what is necessary to meet the deadline regardless. I'm sure I could go to the professor and mention that the student isn't doing their part, but in the end we'll still get the same grade. As for sorting my problem sets, I tend to do the easier ones first so that if it takes me a bit longer on the hard ones that I won't have to worry about those easier ones backing up on me. There are people in my classes that don't do their homework strategically, so they seem a bit more stressed than me for example. I can't eliminate all stress though. My program of study has a very high fail rate and after each exam, it is hard to know if you are going to make the cut. My exams typically have 3-4 questions at 20-40 points each depending on problem complexity. I've had professors do right/wrong - no partial credit, and you can't help but worry if one mistake is going to be the difference in pass or fail.

Version 3: Step 1: Listen to (LOTR Full symphony) Step 2: Interrupt Step 2 with (Misty Mountains Cold) at random intervals This is my hardcore-math-studying music. Nothing motivates me like Rohan theme song OnT: Chocolate, cooking or baking..Good book or mindless TV shows! Mostly I annoy my best friend

Have 1 no-study day. Exercise. Put on your headphones and escape the world. Go out. Learn to laugh at idiots.

I hardly know where to begin here. I do so many different things to take my mind off of work and school. I like to walk, run, rollerblade, ice skate, read and write. Where I live, there are many bodies of water and hiking trails. Sometimes I'll hike by the water. The scenery is beautiful and it helps me to relax when I have too much going on in the think tank.

I will always operate under stress due to the workload that gets thrown at me. However, when my "stress meter" gets higher and higher, that is when it will become a problem when I'm doing all my homework assignments. I don't usually burn out very easily, as it takes A LOT of work in a period of time to get there. But when I do get totally stressed out, I do anything but work. I might listen to music, watch Youtube videos, hang out with friends, sleep, play video games; as long as I'm not doing work until I cool down. Volunteering also helps. I always make sure to have time for relaxation/fun/etc. Without that, I would have probably failed my way out of college already. It just takes a incredible amount of planning in my agenda to keep track of everything.

I went to manager training course at Nokia in mid 90's. They did many tests to us and one was related to stress. My results were that I have almost unlimited ability to handle stress. Main point was that I can separate work and home and work does not kill me, even how bad pressure I have. It's only work and if work sucks, I have to get a new job or modify my work. Since that I've not get a new employer by my actions, even I have 3rd employer ongoing by outsourcing. I still like my job, because I can make all decisions how I manage my projects and how I do my job. My employer offers me tools and freedom to manage my projects and as long as I can fullfill those requirements, we both are happy.
Job (if you're not the owner of company) is just a job, nothing more. And if you're good enough to do it better than expected, you're always a happy winner without stress.
